Monclova
is located in the state of Coahuila, 193 Km. to the north of
Saltillo for the Federal highway 57.
To the City of Monclova has been
called the Ave Phoenix because it is a town that reborn always, as
they prove it the several foundations that were made one after
another to the long of 112 years, beginning in 1577 with Don Alberto
del Canto, 1582-85 Don Luis de Carvajal y de la Cueva, 1607 Don
Pedro de Velada, 1643 Don Mateo de Arredondo, 1644 Don Martin de
Zavala, 1674 Don Antonio Balcarcel Rivadeneira y Sotomayor, until
that of August 12 of 1689 that the last and only that lasted was and
that it was carried out the General Alonso de Leon.
From 1644 the county of Coahuila
depended on the Real Audience of Guadalajara in the religious aspect
and in the military politician of the viceroyalty.
May 24 of 1811 were granted Monclova
the city title to have been apprehended in their area to the first
commanders of the insurgency. When being consummated the
independence the capital of Coahuila it continued being Monclova, up
to May 7 of 1824, it dates of the ordinance of the Constituent
Congress that create the State of Coahuila and Texas whose
legislature should settle in Saltillo.
Through the time, this historical city
that was founded in 1689 as Santiago de la Monclova and as capital
of the county of Coahuila of the New Extremadura, it has changed in
many aspects.

Main
Square.

Ermita de Zapopan Temple,
